National Blood Donor Month

This month is National Blood Donor Month! Donors of all types are needed and encouraged to give blood, especially people with blood types with O negative, A negative, and B negative. We highly encourage people to go donate blood!

Scott and White is having a variety of events and blood drives. To find an event in your area, visit the following link: http://www.sw.org/blood-center/events.

Blood donors are needed frequetntly and throughout the entire year, so we would also like to encourage donations at safe intervals. The intervals are as follows:

  • Wait at least 8 weeks between whole blood (standard) donations.

  • Wait at least 7 days between platelet (pheresis) donations

  • Wait at least 16 weeks between double red cell (automated) donations.

Also, be sure to check the Red Cross’s list of eligibility criteria before donating blood here.
